At the moment, the IT sector is growing in four main areas: mobile devices

Hidden network

“Clouds”, social networks and big data. It is not enough to say that each direction requires protection – each sphere faces its own specific threats.

It is impossible to allow narrowly focused specialists to protect company data or state secrets.

The most popular option is traditionally a person with experience in several IT fields or whose resume is decorated with multiple certificates. At the same time, obtaining the most valuable certificates requires many years of experience. However, this does not mean that a young talent will be denied access and forced to look for another job. In a number of Western countries, young people with abilities for this profession begin their career path by tracking scammers or engaging in cryptography through government agencies or financial companies. According to Barclay Simpson’s calculations, if a person has firmly decided to embark on this career path in the UK, then he can count on a salary of 38-45 thousand pounds per year as a senior data protection analyst at a large telecommunications company, in maturity to reach a leadership position in the department of continuous operations with a salary of 130 thousand pounds. There are no problems with the choice of vacancies, according to CITC, there are at least 340 thousand vacancies in 18 thousand companies in the USA alone.

In the last century, the public sector could have handled information security on its own. History intervened today: the Internet has gone to the masses and practically monopolized access to talented technicians. All progress now takes place not under the wing of the special services and the military, but in places like Silicon Valley. New products are released every four to five years, and terrorist attacks attract more and more attention to this sector each time. It is worth noting that this again applies to developed markets like the USA and Western Europe. In the CIS and China, the dependence of information security on the state remains strong. Nevertheless, experience in military intelligence, law enforcement and security services is a bonus. Large enterprises like Verizon will give preference to people who can quickly find a needle in a haystack without burning it.
